Barbara Ann Hybertson

Barbara Ann Jongewaard Hybertson, 87, of Viborg, South Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Pioneer Memorial in Viborg, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville, South Dakota. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, also at the church. Burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Centerville, South Dakota.

Barbara was born on December 12, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, John and Edythe (Dickman) Jongewaard. She grew up in Beresford, South Dakota graduating from Beresford High School in 1957.

On June 15, 1957, she married Roswell Hybertson. They made their home in Sioux Falls for 40 years, raising their daughter, Stephanie, and son, David, there. In 1996, they moved to an acreage near Centerville, South Dakota.

Barbara helped her husband, Roz, in the family business, United TV and Appliance, and also worked at Hardees. After moving, she worked at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, David (Lisa) of Virginia; grandson, Steven of Sioux Falls; sister, Bernice (Larry) Chappell of North Carolina; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Stephanie; her parents; sister, Esther; and brother, Dale.
