Obituary

Avis M. Lien was born January 21, 1921 in Brampton, ND to parents Fred and Florence (Finn) Ruch. She died March 29, 2007 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 8 days. Avis graduated from Brampton High School. She married Arthur Lien on October 27, 1947. The couple made their home in Centerville. Avis was a homemaker and worked for several businesses in Centerville. Arthur passed away in 1988. Avis moved into the Centerville Good Samaritan Center in 1998 and has resided there until the present time. Avis was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Scandia Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid, Church Circle and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and visiting with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, Fritz, Raymond, Harold and Calvin, a sister Evelyn Christensen, and 2 nephews, Charles Christensen and Robert Ruch. She is survived by 3 daughters: Muriel Hoeg and husband Robert of Albert Lea, MN, Martha Longway and husband Robert of Denver, CO and Mary Lien of Greeley, CO; 2 grandsons: Mark and Scott Hoeg of Albert Lea, MN; a step granddaughter Heather Longway-Burke of Denver, CO; 2 sisters-in-law Irma Mork of Aberdeen, SD and Merry Ruch of Brampton, ND; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Monday, April 2, 2007 at Scandia Lutheran Church, Centerville, with burial at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Sunday from 4PM to 7PM with family present from 6PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
