Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Friday, November 17, 2006 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM with family present from 7:00 to 8:00PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. Avis Marion Naomi Carlson Antonson was born September 22, 1920 on the family farm in rural Beresford, SD to parents Einar and Naomi (Larsen) Carlson. She died November 12, 2006 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 20 days. Her education began at Ash Creek rural school. She graduated from Beresford High School and attended the Sioux City School of Business. Avis was employed at the Beresford Coop Association for many years. She married Palmer Antonson on March 11, 1948. They farmed south of Union County Park. Avis worked at the Union County Clerk of Courts from 1975 to 1992. The couple continued to farm until Palmers death in 2001 when Avis moved into Beresford and became a resident at Bethesda Nursing Home. Avis was baptized and confirmed at Dalesburg Lutheran Church. After her marriage she joined Roseni Lutheran Church and later became a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the Roseni and Emmanuel Ladies Aid, lifetime member of the Beresford VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Chairwoman for the Union County Cancer Society, and was a member of the J.U.G and Opti-Mrs. Extension clubs. Avis enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking for her family and friends, sewing and traveling with Palmer. Her greatest love in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Claire Antonson and Jan and Joelle Antonson all of Beresford; Grandchildren: Brad Antonson and wife Sarah of Beresford, Alisa Knudson and husband Donn of Beresford, Jennifer Hathaway and husband Eric of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Antonson and friend Maisie Nelson of Elk Point, Andrea Sailor and husband Ryan of Sioux Falls, J.J. Antonson and wife Jenni of Beresford, and Christopher Antonson and friend Julie Brenenkamp of Longmont, CO; great grandchildren: Nicholas, Madeline, and Jack Antonson, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Wyatt and Garrett Knudson, and Megan and Brandon Sailor; sisters: Dorothy Erickson of Beresford, Alyce Selle of Sioux Falls and Leneya Evans and husband Oral of Angola, IN; brother Marvin Carlson of Salem, SD, sister-in-law Fran Carlson of Slayton, MN and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Emerald Carlson, sister-in-law Marlene Carlson, brothers-in-law Rockley Erickson and Morris Selle, and nephew David Selle.
