Audrey (Skaff) Inberg was born in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota on the 28th of February, 1926 to parents Joseph and Agnes (Burkhardt) Skaff. She passed away on the 12th of January, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD; she was 89 years of age.
Audrey attended school in Sioux Falls and graduated from Cathedral High School. After graduation she worked for several years as a secretary at the 335th Army Air Force base in Sioux Falls, and later worked at Jordan Millwork in Sioux Falls for many years. During these years she met the love of her life, her husband Rodney. On May 28, 1955 she married Rodney Willis Inberg of Vermillion/Hub City, SD at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls. To this marriage they had two children, Karen Elizabeth Inberg and Rodney Willis Inberg, Jr. (Roddy).
In 1968 Rodney, Audrey, and their family moved to Sacramento, CA. Audrey worked for many years as an accountant for the State of California at the capitol building in Sacramento. After Rodney and Audrey retired from their careers they took on "something new in their lives" as the business owners of the "Memories in Oak" furniture store in Woodland, CA. In 1998 Rodney and Audrey returned to their South Dakota roots when they moved to Beresford, SD. Audrey has been a resident of the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford since 2013.
Throughout the years Audrey enjoyed listening to classical music and gospel music, especially the Gaither vocal band. Audrey spent many years collecting beautiful dinnerware and glassware.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Joseph O. "Bud" Skaff, her husband Rodney, and son Rodney Jr. She is survived by her daughter Karen Inberg of Elk Grove, CA, grandchildren Jennifer Fong and Eric Fong, both of Sacramento, CA, one brother, Thomas Skaff of Sioux Falls, and five sisters, Maureen Swauger of Roseville, CA, Rita Ross of Citrus Heights, CA, Maxine "Micky" Skaff of Alexandria, VA, Mary Jo Donnelly of Davenport, Barbara Skaff of Sioux Falls, and many nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with burial to follow at Dalesburg Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
