Audrey Josephine Bonine was born September 17, 1921 at Wilmot, South Dakota to parents Axel and Karolyn (Rustand) Ekman. She died May 6, 2015 at the Centerville Care Center at the age of 93 years, seven months and 19 days. Audrey was raised in the Wilmot area where she attended a country grade school and later high school at Vermillion, South Dakota. She married Robert Bonine on December 23, 1939 at Sisseton, SD. Together they operated a farm in Lincoln County that was homesteaded by Robert's grandparents. She enjoyed the quiet life of the farm and caring for the animals. Her hobbies included making lace shawls, word search puzzles and her kittens. She is survived by her son, Alan Bonine and wife Carol of Sioux Falls; daughter, Carolyn Verly Carlson and husband John of Marshall, MN; four grandchildren: Greg Verly and wife Lynn of Ruthton, MN, David Verly of Redding,CA, Tod Hartman and wife Connie of Sioux Falls and Troy Hartman and wife Kim of Penngrove, CA; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley and Brandon Verly, and Ashley, Tim, Cody, Hannah, Emma, and Tess Hartman; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and an infant son, Edwin. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bonine Cemetery.
