Arlys H. Haugen was born September 26, 1937 in Mission Hill, SD to Albert and Helen (Ellefson) Haugen and entered into death on February 24, 2021 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD.
Arlys was confirmed in the Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. She graduated from high school in Irene, SD. Arlys attended college in Springfield and taught school at Danefield Country School. She then met Art "Scratch" Norling. They were married on January 7, 1961 at Our Saviors Lutheran Chapel in Sioux Falls. Scratch and Arlys had three children and Arlys then became a farm wife and homemaker.
She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, baking, reading and mostly spending the winter months in Arizona to spend time with Sandy and her family.
Arlys is survived by her daughter, Sandy Luttrell (Jim) and their children, Daniel Luttrell and Cassie, Jeff and Anna Luttrell and their son, Matthew all of Scottsdale AZ; son, Larry (Darla) and their children, Mandi (John) Sorensen of Irene, (children Justine, Jaron, JT and Sheyanne) Justin Norling of Vermillion and Morgan (Whitney) Norling and Madden and Macklen in Peyton CO; son, Doug (Michele) and their children, Amy (Chris) Peterson, and Della, Omaha NE, Tim (Holli) Norling and Coulter, Harrisburg, SD; brother, Ordell Haugen of Gilbert, AZ; brother in law, Charles Norling and Lois of Beresford and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister-in-law, Cheryl Haugen, and a nephew.
Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with visitation one hour prior to the service, masks are requested. The service can be seen on Facebook on the Emmanuel Lutheran Beresford page. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
