Ardis Mildred (Osthus) Johnson, 92, passed away on January 16, 2024 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD. She was born November 8, 1931 in Turner County rural Centerville, SD to parents Martin and Mabel (Andal) Osthus. She attended rural schools in Clay and Lincoln County through the 8th grade and graduated from Centerville High School in 1949. After high school she moved to Sioux Falls and worked as a sales clerk at J.J. Newberry until her marriage to Conrad Johnson on June 21, 1951 in Centerville, SD. Ardis and her husband farmed south of Beresford on the same farm for almost 58 years until her husband, Conrads death on June 2, 2009. She then moved to Beresford, SD.

Ardis was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church, active in the WELCA organization, served as a teacher in Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir, and served on the Altar committee. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She also volunteered at the Civic Center store for several years. Her church, family, and friends were very important to her.

She is survived by her daughter Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters Andrea (Scott) Sukut of Sioux Falls and Megan Bult of Tea and great-grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, Hunter Sukut of Sioux Falls and Carter Bult of Tea; sister Carol Brende; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad, daughter Marcene, her parents, two brothers, James and Obed Osthus, two sisters, Maurine Miller and Hazel Christopherson.
