Arden Nilson was born August 11, 1941 in Union County, SD to parents Sigmund and Edna (Peck) Nilson. He died December 22, 2014 at Sunset Manor in Irene, SD at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 11 days. Arden graduated from Hawarden High School in 1959. He married Jeannie Reinking in July, 1960. He later married Kay Hammers in February, 1974. Arden farmed and raised cattle and hogs in Union County, SD. Survivors include his son Todd (Cathy) Nilson, Lindenhurst, IL; daughter Sara (Larry) Snider, La Vista, NE; 5 grandchildren, Casey, Spencer, and Trevor Nilson and Holly and Sean Snider; 2 brothers, Eldon Nilson, Alcester, SD and Larry Nilson, Hawarden, IA; 2 sisters, Geraldine Schruer, Beresford, SD and Audrey Rolfes, Alcester, SD; and sister-in-law Norma Nilson, Hawarden, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Wendall, Quinton and Loren in infancy, and a grandson Joey Nilson. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 27 at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, IA with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester, SD. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
