Annabelle Corinne Carlson was born November 28, 1928 in Lincoln County, near Centerville, South Dakota to parents Arthur and Cora (Ven) Carlson and entered into death on November 23, 2007 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 26 days at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center. Annabelle was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Morning Star and Millbrook country schools in Lincoln County. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1947, attended college at Black Hills State and Sioux Falls College majoring in elementary education. She then taught at Rose Cottage country school in Lincoln County. On September 5, 1954, Annabelle was united in marriage to Lyle Palmer Andal. The couple farmed in the Viborg, Irene, and Centerville area and in 1977 moved into a home in Centerville. Annabelle began work as a nurse aide at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center in May of 1971, and assumed the role of Activities Director at the Nursing Home in 1974, retiring in September 2002. In 1992, she was honored as the Region I Activity Coordinator, serving as president. Annabelle was very active as a member of the Garden Club, 20th Century Club, Centerville Arts Council, Scandia Ladies Aide, and Circle. Some of her many talents included knitting, sewing, baking, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She loved providing fresh flowers from her garden for the altar at Scandia over the years. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby (Darrell) Knutson of Centerville, Lois Leslie of Ventura, CA; two brothers James (Glenda) Carlson, Ronald (Ann) Carlson all of Centerville; two sons Luther (Becky) Andal of Aberdeen, Colin (Young) Andal of Wagner, three daughters Dawn (Paul) Coggins of Beresford, Cynthia (Donald) Jeitz of Centerville, Denise (Thomas) Snoozy of Lennox; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 10AM, Wednesday, November 28 at Scandia Lutheran Church, Centerville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
