Alvin LeRoy Sikkink was born December 27, 1933 in Davis, South Dakota to Wilbur and Anna (Vanhove) Sikkink. He died January 19, 2022 at the Centerville Care & Rehab Center at the age of 88 years and 22 days.

Alvin was raised on the family farm near Davis and attended Rose Cottage Country School. He joined the US Navy during the Korean War and served on the USS Rowe. Alvin married Anna Mae Voglzang on November 18, 1953. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to South Dakota and lived on a farm northeast of Centerville. He and Anna raised six children. Alvin hauled eggs and canned milk for the Viborg Creamery. He hauled milk for AMPI (Associated Milk Producers Inc.) of Freeman, SD for many years. Alvin retired from AMPI in 1996 and dealt with a few health issues. He later hauled fertilizer parttime for Simplot.

His parents, wife, Anna; three sons, Dale, Dennis and Daniel; granddaughter, Nicole Sikkink; and son-in-law, Rick Nothdurft preceded him in death.

Grateful for having shared his life is his daughter, Roxanne Nothdurft of Centerville; two sons, Dean (Cari) Sikkink of Brandon and Douglas (Jennifer) Sikkink of Centerville; nine grandchildren, Jason Sikkink, Kristina Kringen, Cody Sikkink, Taylor Sikkink, Trenton Sikkink, Trace Sikkink, Stacy Mortensen, Sara Poppenga and Natalie Sikkink; nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Margaret Kropuenske of Viborg and Carol Andersen of Sioux Falls.

Visitation with the family present will be 11AM-1PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Wass Funeral Chapel in Centerville. A private family funeral service and burial with military honors at Riverview Cemetery will follow.
