Aloris Elenore Pederson passed away peacefully on March 6, 2013 at Bethesda Home in Beresford, South Dakota. She was 96. Aloris was born on September 17, 1916 at her parents' homestead claim in Joplin, Montana. She was the second of five children of Theodore & Alma Estenson. She attended Cyrus Public School after the family returned to Cyrus, MN and she graduated in 1934. In 1939 she married Arnold Pederson of Cyrus, MN. They lived in Cyrus all of their married life and were members of the Trinity Lutheran church. They had two children; Ann & Allen. Aloris worked many years at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, MN. She started in 1964 as a nurse's aid and retired as a cook. Her passion was cooking and entertaining friends and family with delicious meals and beautiful table settings. Arnold died in 1999 after a 24 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Aloris sacrificed, and faithfully cared for Arnold for many years in their home. Aloris moved to Beresford, SD in July, 2002 to be near family. She entered Bethesda Home on December 22, 2008. Aloris is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie (Bart) Phelps of Elk Point, SD and son, Allen (Jane) Pederson of Beresford, SD, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters: Avis Savre of Faribault, MN, Phyllis Bright (Charles) of Morris, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, Nathan, her brother, Martin Estenson and sister, Rachel Olson, brothers-in-law, Tilford Olson and Richard Savre Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Cyrus, MN.
