Allen Powell was born February 12, 1950 in Hawarden, IA to parents Emery and Pearl (Talbot) Powell. He died November 25, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 65.

Allen attended school in Alcester until going to work for Odis Radio. He married Laura Ludwig. The couple resided in Alcester where later Allen worked at Alkota Cleaning Systems until retiring in the early 1990's due to health. He loved watching NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He also enjoyed guns, target shooting, his basset hound and bulldog, and the Boston Celtics. He will be remembered for always having a stash of candy to help brighten anyones day and his tall tales of how he hunted down holiday meals.

His survivors include his two children, Chris (Becky) Powell and their children Austin and Amy, all of Sioux Falls and Tonya (Stacy) Rasmussen and their children Brigita, Tori, Jorden, Cyrus and Raymond all of Alcester; two brothers, Gerald (Susan) Powell and Gordon (Elaine) Powell, all of Sioux Falls; a special sister-in-law Marlys Powell, Beresford; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Allen was proceded in death by his parents, Emery and Pearl Powell and granddaughter Yutta Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2 at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester, with burial to follow at Brule Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Point. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.
