Allan Bjordal was born December 19, 1923 on a farm in Turner County, South Dakota near Centerville, South Dakota to Hans and Elvira (Bervin) Bjordal. He died October 24, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD at the age of 89 years, 10 months and five days. Allan was raised on the family farm south of Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School. He married Lorraine Hall on April 13, 1952. The couple lived in Yankton, Sioux Falls, Centerville and Viborg. Allan worked as a farmer and for various companies in the surrounding area. When he wasn't working, Allan enjoyed reading literature and poetry. He will be remembered as having a great sense of humor, listening to polka music and eagerly helping family with many projects. The couple moved to the Pioneer Villa apartments in Viborg in 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, in April of 2009, his parents and one granddaughter, Chelsey Bryant. He is survived by his son, Dr. Gary Bjordal and wife Marilyn of Sioux Falls; daughter, Linda Attebury and husband Lee of Centerville; nine grandchildren: Nikolai Bjordal, Ilsa Bjordal and her fiancé, Tylor Harr, D.J. (April) Bryant, Derek (Gwen) Bryant, Darren (Staci) Bryant, Kyle Bryant, Sarah Bryant, Samantha Bryant, and Lee Bryant; eight great-grandchildren, Demetri, Cadence, Olivia, William, Logan, Pnina, Damnein and Lillianna; two brothers, Jon (Diane) Bjordal of Centerville and Ben Bjordal of Beresford; three sisters, Dorritt (Warren) Reeves of Brookings, SD, Helen (Vernon) Miller of Birmingham, AL and Marge (Leonard) Lindsey of Adel, GA; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services for Allan will be 2PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the United Church of Christ in Centerville with burial at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Tuesday at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6-8PM.
