Alice Saugstad was born April 30, 1918 near Jamestown, North Dakota to parents Lars Larson and Anna Johanna (Fjelsbo) Jervik. She died Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Beresford at the age of 90 years and fifteen days. Alice attended Sundy country school in Norway Township in Lincoln County and graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton. She married Lloyd Saugstad on March 4, 1938 in Menno, SD. Alice worked various jobs at local factories and cooked at Wood Field Center. Alice was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid at Romsdal Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting and a 63 year member of the Friendly Hour Club. Survivors include her children, Lloyal Saugstad and his wife Sharon of Waubay, SD, Leland Saugstad and his wife Jean of Beresford, Lloyd Douglas Babe Saugstad and his wife Sandra of Alcester, Kathleen Sis Lykken of Hudson and Paul Saugstad and his wife Mary Ellen of Beresford; 23 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Berniece (Mrs. Martin) Anderson of Beresford; one sister-in-law, Mildred (Mrs. Leonard) Jervik of Calif. and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Lloyd; son, Ronald; one granddaughter, Johanna; and four brothers, Leonard, Stanwood, and twins, Clifford and Clarence. Funeral services for Alice will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
