Alice Virginia Peterson was born January 17, 1922 in Vermillion, South Dakota to Jess E. and Effie (Warnock) Davis. She died August 19, 2020 at the Centerville Care & Rehab Center surrounded by her family at the age of 98 years, seven months and two days.

Alice, or 'Bobby" as she was known, was raised and attended school in Vermillion. She married Arnold A. Peterson November 10, 1937. They lived in Vermillion where they started their family and Alice worked at JC Penney. The family moved to Centerville and she worked at Bob's Shoes and for many years as the dietary manager at the local nursing home. Following Arnold's death in 1980, Alice continued to live in Centerville.

She was active in her church, was an avid reader and enjoyed baking and cooking. Alice was a member of the Golden Girls in Centerville and liked to garden and raise flowers, including iris', a favorite of hers. She was a great seamstress in her younger years. The most important thing in Alice's life was her family; they will remember her as honest, loving and kindhearted and spunky to the end!

Grateful for having shared in her life is her son, Douglas (Shirley) Peterson; daughter, Charlotte Beeck; daughter-in-law, Jean Peterson; 11 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 38 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, son, Roger Peterson; sisters, Florence DeMers and Ethel Gray; brothers, Richard Davis and Jimmy Davis; and son-in-law, Arlin Beeck preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00AM Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Centerville Church of Christ; being mindful of COVID 19, please wear a mask and social distance in the church. Visitation will be 2-4:00PM Sunday, Aug. 23 ^rd at Wass Funeral Chapel in Centerville. The family requests memorials to the CC&RC, 500 Vermillion Street, or to the church, 700 Main Street, both in Centerville, SD  57014.
