Alice Munsil was born July 30, 1941 in Lemmon, SD to parents Howard and Kathleen (Keenan) Bertrand. She died December 18, 2009 at her home in Centerville, SD at the age of 68 years.

Alice graduated from Lemmon High School and Northern State College. She married Dean Dawson. She taught English and Drama in Minnesota, Newell, SD and Timber Lake, SD. She moved to Vermillion in the early 1970s and began working as a secretary at the University of South Dakota and later worked in the office of Management and Budget. She married Robert Munsil in 1997 and moved to Centerville and has lived there until her death.

Alice was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters, the P.E.O. in Vermillion, was a member of all Independent Order of Odd Fellow branches and was currently serving as Grand Secretary of L.A.P.M., was a past president of L.A.P.M. and past Grand Matriarch. She also served on the board of directors of the Centerville R.O.C. bus. Alices hobbies and interests included crocheting and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Wallace and a niece Kirsten Haberl.

Survivors include her husband Robert Munsil of Centerville; two nieces, Erika (Keith) Lapour, Sioux Falls and Julie Bertrand, Adana, Turkey; foster daughter Carol Jorgensen and her four daughters, Lillian, Deana, Jennifer, and Kelly; nephew-in-law Scott Haberl; and four great nephews.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00AM, Monday, December 21 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Centerville. Visitation will be Sunday from 6PM to 8PM with an Odd Fellow and Rebekah service at 7:00PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville. A second service will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, December 23 at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD with burial to follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon.
