Alex Rodriguez was born December 5, 1989 in Staten Island, NY to Melvin and Wanda (Gonzalez) Rodriguez. His life was taken March 5, 2017 in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 27 years.

Alex was raised in New York and moved to Florida when he was 11. He moved with his father and brother, Jon, to Alcester, SD in December of 2004. There he was active in many school activities and sports and he graduated with the Alcester-Hudson High School class of 2007.

He attended USD in Vermillion before joining the SD Air National Guard. Alex worked as a corrections officer and later found he enjoyed bartending. He worked at Chevy's in Sioux Falls.

Alex loved playing guitar and basketball and was a huge NY Giants fan. He was a great friend with an easy smile and an outgoing personality. Alex loved to write and read. He was a good son and brother and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his father, Melvin Rodriguez; mother, Wanda Gonzalez; brothers, Jonathan and Samuel Rodriguez; sisters, Gabriella and Sophia Rodriguez; son, Beckham; step mother, Laura Rodriguez; step grandparents, Mary and Jerry Owings; his step family, Daymon, Danielle, Junior, Jesse and Jerry. Also surviving are his grandmothers, Hilda Vasquez and Rosa Ayala of Puerto Rico; aunts, Chris Treadway, Jennifer, Nadine and Wanda; uncles, Dave Owings and Freddie.
