Albert B. Johnson was born September 5, 1911, in Beresford, SD to parents Walter and Ingeborg (Ronning) Johnson. He died July 14, 2009 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Albert attended school in Beresford. He married Rose Larson on November 11, 1937. He farmed south of Beresford until 1948 when they moved to town where he was a carpenter and roofer. He has been a resident of Bethesda of Beresford since August of 2005.

Albert was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Beresford where he was currently the oldest member of the congregation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Art, Bill, and Leo, four sisters, Ella Ida, Ruth, and Isabelle, and two step-brothers, Hans and Chester.

His survivors include one daughter LaVonne (George) Young, Alcester; three grandchildren: Cindy (Pat) Maher, Susan (Roger) Anderson, and Scott (Linda) Young; 7 great grandchildren: Kelly, Ryan, Tiffany, Hannah, Melissa, Margy and Kirsten; and one great-great granddaughter Natalie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, July 20 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Beresford. Visitation will be Sunday from 3PM to 6PM with family present from 5PM to 6PM and a prayer service at 5PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
